WALKING Kent is known as the Garden of England and there are few better ways of getting to the heart of the countryside than walking along the well maintained network of trails.

Many of Kent's Regional and Recreation routes follow valleys which pass through historic towns and villages and allow the walker to become intimately acquainted with the landscape of a particular area. With a wide range of walks for all ages and abilities, what better way to relax with a little gentle exercise. This well maintained network of leisure routes makes cycling an enjoyable way of discovering the County's riches at a leisurely pace. . To be truly green why not take the train to Canterbury West and hire a bicycle from www.downlandcycles.co.uk a pleasant 5 minutes stroll from the station in St. Stephen’s Road.

BIRD WATCHING AND WILDLIFE Kent is home to some of the top sites in this country. The North Kent Marshes have some of the best inter-tidal grazing marsh on both sides of the Swale Estuary, Oare near Faversham and Elmley on the Isle of Sheppey. At Stodmarsh and Grove Ferry east of Canterbury are extensive reed beds and Dungeness has a vast shingle peninsula supporting a diverse range of flora and fauna.
