Shopping is great fun and Kent has a sufficiently wide range of shopping facilities that make it fun for all the family.
From the mighty Bluewater with it's bright lights and upbeat atmosphere to the corner shop that offers personal service and can find that special item that does not appear on the inventory of the multiple chains.
Exploring the tiny alley's of Kent's medieval towns can reveal some exceptional bargains and so too, the farmers markets and vineyards that have learned the value of marketing their products directly to the public. |

The demand for locally grown food coupled with the increased popularity of organic produce have generated a tremendous growth in Farmers Markets.
The one shown here is in the old goods yard of Canterbury West Station where a beautiful Victorian warehouse has been restored to accommodate the market.
Farmers bring a very wide range of fresh, home produced food and sell directly to the public and local hotels and restaurants

A search of place names in Kent will quickly reveal the fact that wine was produced in this area by the Romans. The Vines in Rochester is a good example.
Although dormant for many years, wine making in Kent is now enjoying a healthy renaissance.
Most vineyards are open to the public and conducted tours are available, coupled with a demonstration of how the wine making process works and the opportunity to sample the finished product.
Wine is available for purchase at all vineyards.
